RES4CLIMA project is in line with OSS 2 ‘End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture’ and OECD-DAC standards 41010. Environmental Policy and Administrative Management and 43071 - Food Security Policy and Administrative Management. For decades, Tanzania has also been suffering the effects of climate change, in particular recurring droughts and floods, which have caused devastating impacts on the agriculture, water and energy sectors.
Project: RES4CLIMA – Resilience for Climate Change and Sustainable Development in Tanzania
Location: Tanzania, with a strong focus on Pemba Island, Zanzibar.
Main objective: Strengthen climate resilience and sustainable development through practical, locally adapted solutions.
Key areas: Water and sanitation, waste management, sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, infrastructure, and climate resilience.
UNIBS role: Provides technical and scientific expertise in waste valorization, sustainable compost production, Socio-economic and environmental assessment, and resource management.
Main approach: Combines research, capacity building, technology transfer, local stakeholder engagement, and demonstration activities.
Expected impact: Improved resource efficiency, reduced environmental impacts, strengthened local capacities, and more resilient communities and agricultural systems.
